Hello relatives, my Lakota name is Eagle Shirt Woman, and my legal name is Alexandra Hunter. I live in the Medicine Root District, Kyle SD. I have two sons and their names are Charlie and Dally. My background includes Waldorf education, along with lived cultural and traditional experiences. This guides my holistic approach to nurturing the mind, body, and spirit of each child. With the guidance of our Lakota values, I work to create safe, consistent spaces where the youth feel seen, heard, and supported. With this amazing mentorship program, I am thankful for the opportunity to help children build a sense of identity, resilience, confidence, and to connect to their roots. In our culture, children are very sacred, as close to the Creator as anyone can be in the physical world. We lost a lot of ourselves from the start of colonization, but we have the chance to revive our ways starting with the children.
