Today, I will speak from my heart. I want to greet you goodheartedly. My Euro-American name is Sharay Brewer, and I prefer to share my Native American name more privately. I am an Indigenous woman located in western South Dakota. I’m from the Pine Ridge Reservation, and I live in Rapid City. My mother’s name is Rita Moran, and my father’s name is Gregory Brewer, Sr. I am passionate about empowering young people and helping them thrive. I am excited and feel very blessed to be part of Friends of the Children He Sapa, supporting the youth’s growth and development. I'm confident I can bring my strong communication skills, empathy, and dedication to this professional mentoring role to create positive, meaningful relationships and guide the youth towards their goals. Fun facts about me: I am currently learning how to understand, speak, and write the Lakota Language. I have an Associate’s degree in Tribal Law and am a few classes away from obtaining a Bachelor’s degree. I like to spend my free time either working out in the gym, hanging out and visiting family and friends, playing sports, going for a nature walk/run/hike with the dogs, reading a good book, listening to good music, riding bike or horse, going to pow wows, Indian relay horse racing, rodeos, or helping others. As I got older, I started to enjoy cooking, baking, beading, sewing, singing, acrylic painting, berry picking, and gardening. I love animals; my favorites are puppies/dogs, kittens/cats, birds, and horses.
