Program Director

Trivia Afraid of Lightning-Craddock, Mahka T’a Tuwanpi Win (Lightning that Comes from The Earth), is an enrolled member of the Cheyenne River Sioux Tribe Miniconju Band of the Lakota in Eagle Buttle, South Dakota. As a member of the Tribe of the Northern Plains, Trivia understands first-hand the adverse childhood experiences have had on Indigenous communities, especially if they go untreated or unidentified resulting in high suicidal ideations amongst the American Indian communities. Trivia was born and raised in Rapid City, South Dakota, where she received her secondary education and obtained a B.A. in Literature and Communications, along with receiving a master’s degree in Leadership and Management from Oglala Lakota College.

Trivia’s education, training, and most importantly her lived experiences give her the skills and expertise in healing informed practices, language preservation, public speaking, program development, community outreach, fostering coalitions, and research. Trivia will be working on a Ph.D. in Health Sciences through the University of South Dakota, with a strong passion for serving Tribal community members by developing culturally relevant and sustainable systems of suicide intervention and prevention in the American Indian community. Some of Trivia’s accomplishments include co-author Healing Within: Smoking Cessation Intervention for American Indian Women with the Black Hills Center for American Indian Health, co-author “In Her Shoes” Women of Faith. Trivia has also participated in a number of leadership programs such as Women in Leadership South Dakota and Rapid City Collective Impact Emerging Leaders 2022.
