Tylar Causey joins the team as a Professional Mentor (Relative) for Friends of the Children – He Sapa. Before joining the program, Tylar worked for Red Cloud Renewable on the Pine Ridge Reservation as a Weatherization Assistant, helping to coordinate essential repairs and energy-efficiency projects that supported families across the community.
Tylar is currently a full-time student studying Behavioral Psychology, blending an interest in human development with a passion for guiding and supporting youth. Though Tylar grew up in North Carolina, her family is from Akwesasne, and she is a proud Kanien’kehá:ka (Mohawk) community member who values staying connected to her roots and culture. Before transitioning into mentorship and education, Tylar spent six years working for various law enforcement agencies and 911 dispatch centers in North Carolina, gaining deep experience in communication, crisis response, and community service.
Outside of work, Tylar enjoys hiking, crafting, and creating bone art from recycled materials. She is passionate about traditional music and loves to sing. Tylar is also a devoted dog mom to four and cat mom to two, often spending free time outdoors with her pets.
