Lakota-Focused Youth Group Opens New Rapid City Space
Friends Of The Children - He Sapa celebrated the grand opening of its facility on Knollwood Drive
RAPID, CITY, S.D.— A non-profit helping children and families through Lakota culture now has a permanent home in Rapid City. Friends Of The Children - He Sapa celebrated the grand opening of its facility on Knollwood Drive Friday. The new space has plenty of offices and multipurpose rooms. Executive Director Walt Swan says that they see an 83% graduation rate among participants.
This is the first facility for the non-profit since operating in Rapid City in 2022. Executive Director of Friends Of The Children - He Sapa Walt Swan says, "We've been in a number of locations. I think this is our third location, and a lot of times it was logistics. We didn't have enough restrooms. We didn't have enough you know, we didn't have enough space."
